Jake Gyllenhaal Joins Sci-Fi Film 'Life' With Ryan Reynolds And Rebecca Ferguson
Jake Gyllenhaal has evolved a lot during his career; beginning as a quirky indie actor (October Sky, Donnie Darko) to failed blockbuster star (Prince of Persia), to now settling in to a leading man groove in strong dramatic pieces. Following on the heels of remarkable performances in Prisoners, Enemy, Nightcrawler, Southpaw, and the upcoming Demolition, Gyllenhaal has now added the sci-fi film Life, from the writers of Deadpool.
Gyllenhaal joins the already-cast Ryan Reynolds and Rebecca Ferguson in the film which features a screenplay by Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick. Directed by Daniel Espinosa (Safe House), Life centers on the crew of an international space station who retrieve a sample from Mars that shows dangerous signs of intelligent life.
No word on when shooting begins, but it will have to fit into Gyllenhaal's busy schedule. At some point he's expected to film the Boston Marathon bombing film, Stronger, and is attached to Okja from director Bong Joon-ho. [Variety]
