With news of a Death Wish remake finally moving forward with Bruce Willis in the vengeance-seeking lead role, another film with exactly the same plot and a different aging action star is on the way. John Travolta stars in I am Wrath, and based on this trailer it's probably not going to go down as a revenge classic, but it could be a lot of fun.
Directed by Chuck Russell (The Scorpion King) with Christopher Meloni, Sam Trammell, Amanda Schull, and Rebecca De Mornay co-starring, the film finds Travolta as a regular joe who goes seeking revenge when his wife is murdered and the cops can't bring her killer to justice. Literally it's the same plot as Death Wish, and if Travolta's wife were a puppy it'd be the same plot as John Wick. This one seems to be leaning hard on all of the familiar genre elements, right down to the bad guy's arrogant "wink" upon being released from custody. You just know he's going to get dead real good, especialy with Travolta sporting such a sweet "I am Wrath" back tattoo. You know he means business.
I am Wrath hits VOD on April 15th and theaters May 13th.
