New Trailer And Release Date For 'The Lobster' Starring Colin Farrell And Rachel Weisz
Yorgos Lanthimos' weird and unforgettable The Lobster has been the belle of the festival circuit since last year, but it's faced some issues securing a stable U.S. release date. It should have been in theaters by now, actually, but its prior distributor faced some financial issues and last month they sold the film's rights to A24, which is a significant step up in terms of reach. And now with a new date pegged for the oddball love story, a trailer has been released to mark the occasion.
Starring Colin Farrell, Rachel Weisz, John C. Reilly, Ben Whishaw, Jessica Barden (quickly becoming a favorite), and Lea Seydoux, The Lobster is set in a world where being single is forbidden, and if a mate can't be found within a certain stretch of time you'll be transformed into the animal of your choosing. It's exactly as strange as it sounds, with my positive review calling it an "insanely complex love story that challenges social constructs". That doesn't mean there aren't issues, but they're worth enduring for a truly unique movie-going experience.
The Lobster hits theaters on May 13th.
