Nicolas Cage Joins 'Philly Fury', Steven Yeun Causes 'Mayhem', Abbie Cornish Has 'Three Billboards'
Nicolas Cage is set to star in thriller Philly Fury, which will be directed by Steven C. Miller, the guy behind lousy Bruce Willis actioners Extraction and Marauders. Perhaps this one will be better, though, as it stars Cage as a Philadelphia mobster who is a suspect in the kidnapping of a businessman's deadbeat brother, a guy many think staged the crime himself to secure a large ransom. Filming is planned for May. [Deadline]
Wait...how does Steven Yeun have time away from The Walking Dead to shoot a movie? Oh my God!! Glenn!!!! Relax, just because Yeun is joining model Samara Weaving in Mayhem does not mean Glenn is going to be killed off. Anyway, the film will be directed by Joe Lynch (Everly, which you should definitely watch) and centers on an attorney who is framed by a co-worker and fired on the same day the office is infected by a virus that causes people to act out their wildest impulses. Yeun's character must then fight to save his job and his own life. [THR]
Abbie Cornish rejoins her Seven Psychopaths director Martin McDonagh for his next film, Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri. Caleb Landry Jones (Antiviral) also boards the film which stars Frances McDormand, Woody Harrelson, and Sam Rockwell. McDormand plays a woman who buys three billboards to goad the police into finding her daughter's killer. Harrelson plays the sheriff, with Cornish as his wife. Rockwell plays the sheriff's hot-headed deputy who joins with the woman to exact vigilante justice on the one he thinks committed the murder. [Deadline]
