While their various shows have leaned towards the dark and the weird, Netflix is leaning hard on comedy when it comes to their original films. Adam Sandler is putting forth crap as part of his 4-picture deal, and last weekend saw the release of Pee-Wee's Big Holiday (which is kinda fun). And next up for them is Special Correspondents, a new comedy featuring Ricky Gervais and Eric Bana, with the first trailer having arrived.
Gervais stars as a struggling radio journalist who spins a crazy lie about being on the frontlines overseas, when in actuality he's safe at home in New York City. This looks better than pretty much all of the movies Gervais has been the lead on, and it doesn't hurt to have Vera Farmiga, Kelly Macdonald, Kevin Pollak, America Ferrera, Raúl Castillo, and Benjamin Bratt as part of the cast.
Special Correspondents hits Netflix on April 29th.
