While we don't see Batman in this footage, we do see some of his greatest enemies. There's obviously the Joker (Jared Leto), Harley Quinn (Margot Robbie), and Killer Croc (Adewale Akkinuoye-Agbage), but other villains such as Deadshot (Will Smith), Captain Boomerang (Jai Courtney), field leader Rick Flag (Joel Kinnaman), Enchantress (Cara Delevingne), Katana (Karen Fukuhara), El Diablo (Jay Hernandez), and Slipknot (Adam Beach), with Common as a character named Monster T. And they're all led by the brassy Amanda "The Wall" Waller (Viola Davis), who forces them to work for the government as part of their prison sentence.
Perhaps the greatest takeaway from this trailer and prior footage is that the tone is completely different from 'Batman v Superman' or Man of Steel. It's dark, but with a disparaging sense of humor that will be welcome in the grim 'n gritty franchise.
Directed by David Ayer, Suicide Squad opens August 5th.
