War Erupts In New 'Warcraft' TV Spot And Poster
For major studio film that has been in the works for what feels like forever, has a fan friendly director in Duncan Jones, and is based on a best-selling video game, word on Warcraft has been quiet. It seems to be fighting for attention against bigger blockbusters, and probably wasn't helped by the mixed response to it at Comic-Con or for the recent trailer. But the fantasy epic has a huge base of dedicated fans who are eager to see the war between orcs and men brought to the big screen.
Legendary Pictures has dropped a new poster as well as a TV spot showing off the film's massive scope, powered by some superb CG graphics. Occuyping the warring realm of Azaroth are stars Travis Fimmel, Ben Foster, Paula Patton, Dominic Cooper, Toby Kebbell (Is he in everything??), Rob Kazinsky, and Daniel Wu. Here's the official synopsis:
The peaceful realm of Azeroth stands on the brink of war as its civilization faces a fearsome race of invaders: Orc warriors fleeing their dying home to colonize another. As a portal opens to connect the two worlds, one army faces destruction and the other faces extinction. From opposing sides, two heroes are set on a collision course that will decide the fate of their family, their people and their home.
So begins a spectacular saga of power and sacrifice in which war has many faces, and everyone fights for something.
Warcraft opens on June 10th 2016, a summer slot which suggests Legendary has a ton of confidence in Jones to break the "video game movie curse".
