So wait, is he or isn't he dead? That's the question surrounding Colin Firth's character, Harry Hart, ever since he seemed to meet his maker in Kingsman: The Secret Service. As Matthew Vaughn began developing the sequel, he expressed a desire to bring Firth back despite what we all saw on screen. Eventually we were told that he had given up after not finding a way to do it that fit with the story, but perhaps they were pulling our legs? The first poster for Kingsman: The Golden Circle certainly seems to suggest that's the case.
Featuring a pair of Hart's glasses and the tagline, "Reports of my death have been greatly exaggerated", the image clearly is teasing that Harry Hart is alive. Follow that with THR's Borys Kit who says "Colin Firth will be back for Kingsman 2", and this looks like an open and shut case, right?
Well...maybe. While Firth could indeed return, it may only be for a cameo setting up a story that centers on an event in Hart's storied career. Something tells me Taron Egerton's Eggsy will be facing an enemy from Hart's past, but until we know the plot this is all just speculation on my part.
Kingsman: The Golden Circle opens June 16th 2017 and will co-star Mark Strong, Julianne Moore, and Halle Berry.
