Based on Jeanne Ryan's YA novel, the story centers on players in an interactive game called "Nerve" that's like The Hunger Games for online trolls. It allows "watchers" to challenge "players" to complete increasingly difficult tasks for cash, with Roberts as Vee, a generally-cautious girl who decides to live a little and play. Franco plays a guy she kisses on her first dare, only for the two of them to be linked as the challenges grow deadlier.
To me it looks like Roberts and Franco got trapped in a 12 Rounds movie, but it still could be pretty fun. Nerve opens on July 27th.
