There aren't a ton of film composers whose names are worth remembering, but one that everybody knows is John Williams. His is the sound that has come to define the modern blockbuster (for better and for worse), especially the films of Steven Spielberg. So despite some health issues slowing him down a little bit recently, it should come as no surprise Williams is ready to score Spielberg's upcoming projects, as well as the next Star Wars film.
At the recent AFI tribute in his honor, Williams confirmed to Variety that he's scoring Spielberg's anticipated pop culture adaptation, Ready Player One, based on Ernest Cline's book. It was then made official that he'll score Indiana Jones 5, and he hopes to work on Rian Johnson's Star Wars: Episode VIII, as well. He said...
“If I can do it, I certainly will. I told Kathy Kennedy I’m happy to do it, but the real reason is, I didn’t want anybody else writing music for Daisy Ridley.”
Could there be a better reason? Chances are he'll score 'Episode IX' at this point, too. Williams has scored every Star Wars and Indiana Jones film so far, and with Disney looking to maintain the classic feel there was no way they would let anybody else touch the music.
