What are the chances Mick Jagger and Keith Richards just play themselves in movie about The Rolling Stones? Sure they're too old, but that hasn't stopped them from performing, has it? A new film about the legendary rock band is on the way, and it comes from Downton Abbey director Andy Goddard.
Goddard will direct Exile on Main Street: A Season in Hell with the Rolling Stones, an adaptation of the book by Robert Greenfield. Penned by Brandon and Philip Murphy, the story centers on the summer in which they recorded 1972's 'Exile on Main St'. Likely it's referring to 1971 in which the Stones owed a bunch of money in taxes and fled Britain before their property could be seized. The group separated and settled in different locations until they got back together at Richards' Villa Nellcôte to finish up recording.
Goddard made his feature directorial debut a couple of years ago with the Dylan Thomas biopic, Set Fire to the Stars, and recently debuted at Tribeca his latest film, A Kind of Murder, starring Patrick Wilson. He'll also be at the helm of some episodes of Marvel's upcoming Daredevil, Punisher, and Luke Cage Netflix series. [Deadline]
