Tom Hanks is Up Against the Mystery of Dante's 'Inferno' in Official Trailer

Symbologist and college professor Robert Langdon has become a staple in Dan Brown's books. Having appeared in four books--Angels and Demons, The Da Vinci Code, The Lost Symbol and Inferno--the fictional character has become the go-to person for all things involving ancient symbols and mystery, and whose adventures have spanned Europe and the United States.

Tom Hanks is back as Langdon in Ron Howard's Inferno. Third in the series of movies involving Langdon's character, it has a lot to live up to because Angels and Demons wasn't a very good film.

This time around, Langdon wakes up in a hospital with amnesia and finds himself in the middle of another big mystery that involves another old text. Following clues tied to Dante and his work, Langdon is helped along the way by Sienna Brooks, played by Felicity Jones. They have to race across, you guessed it, Europe with limited time to figure out what's going on before a deadly virus is unleashed around the world, threatening to take out half of the world's population.

It looks like the same tired formula, but third time could be the charm. The film, written by David Koepp, also stars Ben Foster, Irrfan Khan, and Omar Sy.

You can check out the trailer below! Inferno is in theaters October 28, 2016.
