Eddie Redmayne And Morten Tyldum Flip The Switch On 'The Last Days Of Night'
Suddenly the battle between Thomas Edison and George Westinghouse to electrify the world has lit up Hollywood, as well. Oscar-winner Eddie Redmayne is joining with The Imitation Game duo of director Morten Tyldum and writer Grahame Moore, for an adaptation of Moore's book, The Last Days of Night.
Redmayne will play Manhattan lawyer Paul Cravath who got involved in the legal battle between Edison and Westinghouse to decide who will electrify the country during the Industrial Age. Edison sued for more than $1B and Westinghouse hired the young but unproven Cravath, who fresh out of law school. Expected to appear are other historical figures Nikola Tesla, Alexander Graham Bell, and Stanford White.
Production will likely begin soon if they plan on hitting the fall 2017 release date that will put it in the Oscars race. At that pace we'll likely see it before The Current War, a long-developing film on the subject that stars Benedict Cumberbatch as Thomas Edison and Jake Gyllenhaal as Westinghouse.
