Michael Fassbender Says Expect More Scares In 'Alien: Covenant'
While Ridley Scott's Alien was creepy and ominous as Hell, subsequent films were considerably less so. Aliens is still great, but to me it's more of an action movie, and the films that followed continued down that path. Prometheus didn't include many horror elements, either, or many elements that fans liked at all, as it would turn out. Well, that's going to change with Alien: Covenant, as returning star Michael Fassbender promises there will be more scares. He tells Collider...
“I’m very excited to see it, and everybody in the film was saying this is a film that we all want to see. It’s much scarier than ‘Prometheus,’ but it’s got the same sort of scope of ‘Prometheus.’ It’s kind of got more of the sort of thriller, imminent disaster feel that ‘Alien’ had, so it’s kind of a beautiful meeting of both of those films. Once it starts and the ball starts rolling, it doesn’t let up. It’s really going to bring chills to the cinema.”
And clearly that makes sense as the prequel franchise loops back around towards Alien, it should begin to take on a similar tone. I think fans are just hoping it will be a good movie at this point. Alien: Covenant opens August 4th with Fassbender, Katherine Waterston, Noomi Rapace, Danny McBride, Demian Bichir, Jussie Smollett, Amy Seimetz, Carmen Ejogo, Billy Crudup, and Callie Hernandez starring.
