The 'Suicide Squad' Rumors About Joker's True Identity Are All Wrong
Rumors fly around all of the time, especially when it comes to superhero movies, but I think it's actually worse with Warner Bros.' DCU flicks. In particular there have been a number of stories that have just turned out to be totally false. Jena Malone as the female Robin? Scoot McNairy as The Flash or Jimmy Olsen? None were true. So with that in mind, Suicide Squad director David Ayer has decided to dump cold water on another persistent rumor about his film.
And so the rumor goes that Jared Leto's Joker is ...wait for it...Jason Todd aka the deceased Robin who was actually killed off by Joker in the classic "Death in the Family" storyline. Todd would eventually be resurrected as the Red Hood in the comics, but in the movies he's still very much dead. How do we know? Because we saw Batman's tribute to his fallen sidekick in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. Anyway, how do you get to Jason Todd becoming the Joker then? Honestly, it doesn't really matter because Ayer says that shit ain't happenin'.
“It ain’t the case. He’s not", he told WSVN-TV [via THR] in about as blunt a way as possible. Nothing in Ayer's past tells me he's the kind to play games, either, so if he said it we can take it as gospel.
Then again....nah. Not gonna happen. Anyway, we'll find out for sure when Suicide Squad opens on August 5th, and if you live in DC and want to see it early, you can enter for a chance here.
