There's a reason why Marvel always keeps their titles secret for as long as possible. The titles tend to give away exactly what the plot will be. 'The Winter Soldier', 'Civil War', 'Age of Ultron', 'Ragnarok', and now Avengers: Infinity War pretty much told us everything we needed to know. Once envisioned as a two-parter, 'Infinity War' was split with the fourth film now untitled, and the Russo Brothers revealed to Cinemablend the reasons for the change...
"We wanted the movie to be very different and distinctive, you know," Joe Russo said. "There’s certainly cross-pollination between characters and some story-arcs, but you know, the first movie is very clearly Avengers: Infinity War and, in time, we will reveal what the second film is."
As for when we'll find out the title, Anthony replied "not for quite some time", probably because it will be based on a very familiar Marvel storyline. Talking with IGN, the brothers said 'Infinity War' and its follow-up will be the launch of something new, but they refused to say what, of course...
"I can't get into too much detail about who we're introducing, but these two movies are intended to be the culmination of everything that has happened in the MCU since the very first 'Iron Man' movie," said Anthony. "In being a culmination, these movies are in some ways going to be an end to certain things, and in some ways, they're going to be the beginning of certain things."
One new thing we know to look forward to is the first teamup between the Avengers and the Guardians of the Galaxy. Let's hope they don't waste an entire movie fighting one another before joining forces against Thanos. Avengers: Infinity War opens May 4th 2018 with the fourth Avengers movie a year later.
