Following the announcement of Keira Knightley and Alexander Skarsgard as the first to headline an upcoming adaptation of Rhidian Brook's The Aftermath, Variety reports Jason Clarke (Dawn of the Planet of the Apes) will join them. James Kent (Testament of Youth) is directing the film based on the best-selling novel set in 1946 postwar Germany. Knightley and Skarsgard play a reunited couple in the ruined city of Hamburg who are sharing their new home with its previous owners, a German widower and his troubled daughter.
Rainn Wilson will be the one to unleash the killer shark in Meg, joining the previously-cast Jason Statham, Fan Bingbing, Ruby Rose and Jessica McNamee. Based on the Steve Alten novel and directed by Jon Turteltaub (National Treasure), the film centers on a giant prehistoric shark, a Carcharodon megalodon nicknamed Meg, wreaking havoc off the coast of present-day China. Taylor Kitsch is the latest to join Dylan O'Brien and Michael Keaton in American Assassin, based on the popular spy novels by author Vince Flynn centered on CIA agent Mitch Rapp. Directed by Michael Cuesta (Kill the Messenger), the film stars O'Brien as Rapp who joins with his mentor, a Cold War veteran, to stop a mysterious operative (Kitsch) from starting World War 3 in the Middle East. American Assassin is the 11th book in the Rapp series but first chronologically, and you can bet a film franchise will launch if this one is a hit.
