Chris Pratt And Jennifer Lawrence Share A Space Romance In First 'Passengers' Trailer

While the sci-fi romance Passengers may look like a sure-fire winner now with Chris Pratt and Jennifer Lawrence headlining, that wasn't always the case. The Jon Spaihts-penned film was initially designed as a starring vehicle for Keanu Reeves, with co-stars such as Rachel McAdams and Reese Witherspoon on board at different points. While that's certainly nothing to sneeze at, there wasn't enough star wattage to get the movie off the ground. Obviously that's not a problem anymore, and after yesterday's 9-second tease the first full trailer for the anticipated movie is here.

Directed by The Imitation Game's Morten Tyldum, the film finds Pratt and Lawrence as passengers woken up 90 years too early from their interstellar voyage. And as we see from this footage they make the best of the time they have, falling in love while risking their lives to make sure the still-sleeping travelers reach their destination.

There are some nice moments here, from the little robot wingman to Michael Sheen as the ship's bartender. We also catch glimpses of Laurence Fishburne and Andy Garcia, and perhaps a small tease of the big revelation regarding the actions taken by Pratt's character that could be the film's greatest source of romantic conflict. It's been talked about in previous posts but I won't spell it out here.

Passengers opens December 21st and looks poised to be huge.
