'Man Of Steel' Sequel Confirmed, But Not By Warner Bros. Or Henry Cavill
Although it was Man of Steel that launched the DCEU as we know it, Superman never got a true sequel to his story. Granted, many of the threads from that movie rolled into Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, such as the impact of his killing Zod, but as for another standalone effort it didn't seem to be in the cards. That changed over the summer when word leaked that Warner Bros. was in some stage of development on a solo Superman movie, and now it has been confirmed by an unexpected source.
Dany Garcia, the manager for Henry Cavill, has made if official to Newsweek that her client will be starring in a new Superman movie, and no it's not Justice League which we know he'll also be in.
“Henry has a big appetite. We’ve been in a five-month period of time where he’s re-strategizing, acquiring property , he’s filming [‘Justice League‘] now, he’s in development for the Superman standalone… he’s beginning to expand that world. It’s beautifully teed up. In a year from now, or two years from now, he’s going to be a force globally.”
Lots of big talk there, but then that's what managers are paid to do. So we have our Superman sequel although there are no details, such as who will direct or write the screenplay, and who knows where it will fit in a crowded superhero field.
