WWE's Shawn Michaels Superkicks Faith In Trailer For 'The Resurrection Of Gavin Stone'

I take pride in the fact I'm one of the few major film critics who takes time to review practically every WWE-related movie out there. Professional wrestling is important to me and I continue to be a huge fan of WWE and will continue to support it in any way I can. That said, I won't be going anywhere near The Resurrection of Gavin Stone, a faith-based movie from the company that once had Vince McMahon challenge God to a wrestling match. No, really.

Speaking of which, another principle figure in that blasphemous storyline (and this is coming from an atheist, even I was offended) is a co-star in the movie, the "Heartbreak Kid" Shawn Michaels. He turned over a new leaf years ago and became a Born Again Christian, so his presence kinda makes sense. The film stars Agents of SHIELD's Brett Dalton as a washed-up celebrity forced to serve out his community service at a megachurch. So he pretends to be Christian so he can play Jesus in one of their stageplays, and to also score points with the pastor's hot daughter.  If you can't figure out he learns some mucho life lessons while enduring a mock crucifixion, then you've obviously taken one "Sweet Chin Music" too many.

Also starring D.B. Sweeney, Anjelah Johnson-Reyes, and that guy who was the janitor on Scrubs, The Resurrection of Gavin Stone will be released on January 20th 2017.
