Sylvester Stallone Exits Jim Mickle's 'Godforsaken'
Unless you've been enjoying Jim Mickle's Hap and Leonard series over on SundanceTV then it's been a while since you've seen anything from the Cold in July director. The most promising project he had developing was a crime thriller titled Godforsaken that would have seen him paired up with Sylvester Stallone. That was just last summer, but already the project is in limbo because its star has just vacated the premises.
Deadline reports pre-production on Godforsaken has halted due to Stallone exiting the film. The reasons are unclear but it must have been something big because Stallone has been touting it publicly since the beginning and helped work with Daniel Casey and Lawrence Grey on the script. This leaves the door open for a new actor to come in and play the aging ex-con, regretfully estranged from his family, who changes his life of solitude when his son is murdered. Now he must set out to protect the only family he has left and avenge the son he barely knew.
So this sucks but the show will go on. STX promises things will move forward once Mickle is ready to go and a new star is found. Perhaps one of Stallone's old Expendables buddies?
