Matthew Vaughn's Already Working On 'Kingsman 3'

Of all the sequels and potential blockbusters opening this year, the one that may be the riskiest is Kingsman: The Golden Circle. The first movie was a Hell of a lot of fun and continued Matthew Vaughn's streak of quality, distinctive films. He's proven to be especially good when workng from Mark Millar adaptations, just as he did with Kick-Ass. But I'm not convinced that wasn't just audience reaction to their overall dissatisfaction with the spy genre that they'd turn out for a film that flipped it, just as they did for Kick-Ass then did not do for its flop sequel.

That said, it doesn't surprise me in the least that Vaughn is already planning Kingsman 3 before we find out if audiences want it. At a 20th Century Fox presentation over the weekend, Vaughn revealed that he began planning Kingsman 3 while writing The Golden Circle, and that “no one will predict where Eggsy winds up.”  Hmmm...

To be fair, we kind of already knew there would be a third movie since Halle Berry's contract is for two appearances, and presumably so are others in the cast. The Golden Circle is Vaughn's first true sequel and it looks like he's fully committed to this franchise and finishing out the trilogy. That said, he didn't say anything about directing the third chapter, so we'll see if his involvement stretches that far.

Starring Taron Egerton, Mark Strong, Julianne Moore, Channing Tatum, Halle Berry, Jeff Bridges, Sophie Cookson, Colin Firth, Elton John, and Pedro Pascal, Kingsman: The Golden Circle opens September 22nd. [Comingsoon]
