HBO's Big Little Lies gave Reese Witherspoon the best reviews she's ever had, including when she won Best Supporting Actress for Walk the Line. But on the big screen she continues to be a bit scattershot. For every Wild, there's a Hot Pursuit; for every Mud there's a Devil's Knot. And it seems in the case of her next film, Home Again, she's decided to go back to something easy and comfortable; a rom-com.
Hallie Meyers-Shyer makes her writing and directing debut in a film that looks like something her mother, Nancy Meyers, would have politely refused. Witherspoon plays a recently-separated woman who moves back home to Los Angeles with her daughter, meets some filmmakers, and lets them move in to her house. Romance and hilarity follow, although not so much of the latter based on this trailer, which looks absolutely terrible. Sorry, I don't think people are going to be able to relate.
