'Monsters Inc.' Series With Billy Crystal And John Goodman Headed To Disney+

With the arrival of their streaming service later this year, Disney has a lot of content needs that can't be filled by just Lucasfilm and Marvel. Pixar is also doing their part, and we've learned one of their biggest franchises, Monsters Inc., will be part of a brand new series with some familiar voice stars already on board.

Billy Crystal and John Goodman are back voicing Mike and Sully in a new Disney+ series, Monsters at Work. The show will follow a new character, Tylor Tuskmon, who is voiced by Superstore's Ben Feldman, and reveres Mike and Sully so much he plans to rise in the ranks in hopes of working alongside them. Other returning voices include John Ratzenberger, Jennifer Tilly, and Bob Peterson, joined by new additions Kelly Marie Tran, Henry Winkler, Lucas Neff, Alanna Ubach, Stephen Stanton, and Aisha Tyler.

A 2020 release date is planned but until Disney+ gets a confirmed launch don't expect it to get any clearer than that. [Variety]

Disney+ Streaming Service Plans Late 2019 Launch; New Marvel, Star Wars, And Pixar Shows Confirmed

It's almost here, folks. Disney's streaming service is coming and soon it'll be time to add another must-have subscription. Yeah, they're piling up, right? But Disney knows you're going to want what they're selling, and recently CEO Bob Iger finally gave us some confirmations on what to expect from the service they are now calling Disney+.

Iger made it clear the title of their Disney streaming plan is Disney+, and it will launch in the U.S. in late 2019.  The service will come loaded with tons of original content from Disney, Marvel, Star Wars, and more. That includes multiple event series set within the Marvel Cinematic Universe, with Iger confirming Tom Hiddleston will return as Loki for a show centered on the Asgardian trickster. No word on when the timeframe might be, but the assumption is a prequel of some kind, given the events of Avengers: Infinity War. This is on top of minis centered on Scarlet Witch and Vision, Bucky and Falcon, and possibly more.

Star Wars will be represented with two confirmed shows, Jon Favreau's The Mandalorian and the newly-revealed Rogue One prequel starring Diego Luna. With big screen spinoffs in a freeze expect more series set in the Star Wars universe to be announced. Disney+ will also include live-action movies, such as Lady and the Tramp which has Tessa Thompson, Kiersey Clemons, Justin Theroux, and more already cast. Iger also revealed that other Disney+ projects will be set in the worlds of Monsters, Inc. and High School Musical. 

Presumably, Disney will begin subscription signups early but no word on when that might be.

Disney re-releasing Beauty and the Beast, Monsters Inc., Finding Nemo, and The Little Mermaid...in 3D

Did anybody expect anything different? We've been saying it here on this site for two weeks from the instant the 3D re-release of The Lion King pounced on the box office to the tune of $80M. What dollars they fail to miss will be swept up with the Blu-Ray release due...oh, that would be today. Realizing a cash cow when they see it, it would only be a matter of time before a whole slew of Mouse House flicks were repackaged for us. And now here we are. See what you've done, America?

Disney/Pixar are set to see four of their most beloved films back into 3D theaters through the end of 2013. The first is Beauty and the Beast, opening on January 13th 2012. Finding Nemo splashes down on September 14th. Monsters Inc. hits on January 21st 2013, and The Little Mermaid on September 13th 2013.

Don't be surprised if Dreamworks, Fox, and other animation houses follow suit. Y

Monsters Inc. sequel gets an official title

Earlier today at CinemaCon(formely ShoWest), Disney announced that the sequel to Pixar's Monsters, Inc. will be titled Monsters University. The title kinda gives away the plot just a little, which is rumored to be a prequel set when Mike Wazowski(voiced by Billy Crystal) and James P. "Sully" Sullivan(John Goodman) were students at the University of Fear. The two start off as enemies but become fast friends. It's assumed that both Goodman and Crystal will be reprising their voice roles.

Monsters, Inc. premiered on November 12th 2001, earning over $525M worldwide. Monsters University is currently slated for a November 2nd, 2012 release.

I know a lot of people prefer the Toy Story flicks, but Monsters Inc. is second behind The Incredibles for me. Here's hoping we get to see all of our favorite characters return, especially Roz and that laugh of hers.

Disney Confirms Monsters, Inc. Sequel in 2012!

I'm not the Pixar fanatic that most people are. While I like pretty much all of their films(except you Cars!), there are only a handful that I consider truly amazing: The Incredibles, Wall-E, and Monsters Inc. There have been rumor blips on the radar for awhile about a Monsters Inc. sequel, but then there are rumors about sequels for all of Pixar's movies. Now we can say that one of them is finally about to come to fruition.

Disney has confirmed that Monsters Inc. 2 will indeed happen, and that it is already set to hit theaters on November 16, 2012. That's almost exactly eleven years after the original.  Peter Docter won't be returning to helm the sequel as he's already working on other projects. No confirmation on John  Goodman and Billy Crystal reprising their roles voicing Sully and Mike, but I doubt Pixar would move ahead without either of them.

Monsters Inc. was a smash hit for Pixar, scaring up over $525M worldwide.
