The Crow Relaunch Takes Flight!

The Crow has always been one of those cult favorite films that makes everyone wonder what might've been. What might've happened if rising star Brandon Lee hadn't been accidentally killed on set. Would the film have sparked a more popular franchise than the somewhat beleagured one that we were treated to? The film was highly praised, and was a huge financial hit worldwide, but without it's star nothing ever quite seemed right afterwards.

It's been four years since 2005's The Crow: Wicked Prayer(starring Ed Furlong and Tara Reid!!!), and finally producers are getting around to a proper relaunch of the once promising franchise. In a recent interview with Io9, producer Ryan Kavanaugh let slip some details on the long gestating continuation of The Crow's story. Below are a few of the comments I found most intriguing...

It's not a remake it's literally a relaunch of the franchise.

He'll have makeup, but it will be different. The best way to compare it is the first Batman and Batman Begins. In terms of their look and feel and character.

He also went on to state that casting has begun, but nothing official as of yet. They are looking at both name actors and unknown talents. Nor has the film been offically greenlit yet, but he seemed confident that a deal was imminent.

The original Crow film detailed a murdered musician(Brandon Lee), who returns from the grave to seek vengeance against his killers. Subsequent films were variations of the same premise, featuring many different actors in the title role.
