...the Vulture and the Vulturess?? Ok, this is still in the rumor stages but news has been building up pretty quickly. According to Movieline, Malkovich is up for the role of Spidey's nemesis, the high flying geriatric Vulture. The Vulture has been around for decades and can be considered a major part of Spidey's Rogue's Gallery.
But the Vulturess? Well, she's not so well-known, probably because she doesn't exist in Marvel comics canon. That doesn't make her entirely new, though. Anne Hathaway has been rumored to be up for the role of Felicia Hardy, aka the Black Cat, for weeks now. And if the rumors hold true, she will still be playing the part, only in this movie universe she doesn't don the feline gear and opts to sport a pair of sharp wings instead.
Interesting decision, and one I'm genuinely confused by. So far the Spidey flicks have done a decent job throwing together Spidey's villains and using them effectively(ok, Venom sucked but atleast he looked cool), so why the sudden left turn? Why create a character out of nowhere when Spidy has literally hundreds of well-known enemies to choose from? Does this mean we're never going to see Dr. Curt Connors transform into the Lizard?
Until everything is confirmed, we're never going to know, but this is looking more and more like a done deal by the hour.
