- $36.5M If Angelina Jolie's new actioner was looking to snag the Bourne audience it did a good job as it's opening compares favorably with that well regarded series. It doesn't compare to Lara Croft: Tomb Raider's $48M opening, but it ranks in Jolie's top 4 overall.

- $24.1M/$162M Only dropping 24% this week, Despicable Me continues to impress moviegoers.
4. The Sorcerer's Apprentice

- $8M Maybe it's director Elizabeth Allen, but the film version of the beloved Beverly Clearey series of books got off roughly the same debut as Allen's 2006 film, Aquamarine. That is: disappointing.
