With the departure of Ali Larter's character Clear Rivers in
Final Destination 2(so messed up how she died!), the series has had few if any marquee names on the cast list, choosing to go with relative unknowns to be the victims of Death's wraith. But if there's one name left for them to push, it's Tony Todd, who played the mysteriouis mortician William Bludworth in the second installment. Todd has become something of a horror icon after starring in three of the
Candyman
films in the 1990s.
At Frightfest, Todd confirmed that he'll be reprising his role as Bludworth in Final Destination 5, which is said to be touching upon threads established in the first two flicks. So it makes sense to bring the only character who actually survived it all and seems to have an understanding of Death's grand plan.
The film is set for release on August 26th, 2011.
