Production ended back in 2009, and after debuting at Sundance that year, it struggled to gain distribution. The common belief is that the very heavy homosexual theme was a deterrent. It was eventually picked up by Consolidated Pictures Group for distribution, who then went on to miss every single release date they established. CPG lost the rights due to non-payment, and now the film has been scooped up by the more established Roadside Attractions, and a release date has been set for December 3rd, 2010.
I've heard nothing but rave reviews for Carrey's performance, so obviously this is one I really want a chance to see. If it's as good as people say, Roadside Attractions could be looking at a very lucrative Oscar season.
