Bell, Mackie join Man on a Ledge

You tell me that Sam Worthington is going to star in anything not an immediately recognizable franchise and I'll probably turn my nose up. The guy is a blank slate as an actor. But then you tell me that it's a heist flick, my genre of choice, and that Anthony Mackie(Half Nelson) and Jamie Bell(Defiance) are in and my ears suddenly perk up. That's exactly what happened, as Mackie and Bell have both agreed to co-star in Man on a Ledge, directed by Asger Leth.

Mackie signed on yesterday, and while this might not make up for losing out to Jeremy Renner for Mission: Impossible 4 it might be a meatier role with a chance to stand out. As long as he's not playing 2Pac the guy can act his butt off. Bell came to agreement today. There's a chance of Amy Adams(Drop Dead Gorgeous) taking a role as well, but that's yet to be confirmed.

Deadline says that Worthington will star as a cop jailed for a crime he didn't commit. He's let out to attend his father's funeral, but ends up on a ledge threatening suicide. It's all just a cover for the heist being pulled by his brother(Bell) across the street. Mackie would play Worthington's ex-partner.

Are they sure they can't replace Worthington with somebody else? Anybody? A stuffed shirt, maybe? I just don't dig him as an actor, at least not at this stage of his career. If he's good in this it would go a long way in changing my mind.
