The only returning cast member from the original film, I believe, is Josh Hutcherson. Hutcherson was one of the prime candidates to take on the role of Spider-Man in the upcoming films, but lost out to Andrew Garfield. The Rock would be playing the boyfriend of the mom of Hutcherson's character. The two go off on a quest to a...get this...mysterious island to find the location of Hutcherson's missing grandather.
I don't want The Rock to turn into the new Brendan Fraser, but he's following an eerily similar career path. A couple of energetic action flicks followed by a series of bland family comedies. The Rock has a number of action flicks lined up in the near future. I just hope those are successful enough that he can get away from drek like this.
