Ryan Reynolds may have to choose between Deadpool and R.I.P.D.

It's been an ongoing topic here on the site, that of Ryan Reynolds disgustingly heavy workload. The guy has about five projects in the works, most of them big time flicks that he darn sure doesn't want to give up on. The biggest is Green Lantern, which is already filming. After that he's got The Change-Up(a comedy with Jason Bateman) and Safe House alongside Denzel Washington.  That doesn't even include the Green Lantern sequels Warner Brothers is already keen on producing next year.

Then there's his two other possibly huge franchise flicks, Deadpool and R.I.P.D. Deadpool seems like it's constantly finding new reasons to be pushed back(Reynolds' schedule, Robert Rodriguez backing out), while RIPD has a director in place(Robert Schwentke). With so much going on at once, we've speculated that something's got to go, and it's going to be one of these two films. Apparently, Reynolds agrees. Talking to io9, the actor had this to say....

"People sort of ask this question [which one will you make?], like I have any say in the matter. They’re both movies I’m interested in, they’re both movies that are in fast-track development. But I never say I’m doing a movie until I break for lunch the first day. Because it’s such a crapshoot, this industry. Everything’s so fickle and so contingent on so many factors, aside from just an actor. And because it has an actor, and because these films have interested directors, it’s obviously likely that they’ll both get made. But I think it would be more likely that only one of them gets made with me."

He does have some sort of say in the matter. He could drop one right now, or if he was really gung-ho about them both cause a stink and push for a schedule change. He's correct that ultimately the decision is up to the studio. I have to believe that with all the input he's had on Deadpool already that it will be the film he ends up making. Let's hope so, anyway.
