The Sunday Drive: 9/26/10

3. Catfish
Social networks, specifically Facebook, have become a popular topic in Hollywood lately. Next week we'll be treated to David Fincher's The Social Network, but before you dig into that sordid origin tale, be sure you get a look at what happens when social networking is taken to the extreme. To spoil the mystery here would be a crime, so I'll just say go see it. You won't be able to get it out of your head.
2. The Town
Ben Affleck's paints an action packed tale of redemption in the heart of crime-ridden Boston in his glorious follow-up to Gone Baby Gone.
1. Easy A
Easy A might be the closest thing we've had to a John Hughes teen comedy in years. Emma Stone is a revelation(for those who haven't been following her already) as the whip smart teen who let's a single white lie spin hopelessly out of control.

DVD Pick of the Week: The Secret in Their Eyes
A more layered, intense drama will be hard to find. The Secret in Their Eyes won the Best Foreign Language award at the Oscars for the way it expertly combines multiple genres. Part love story, part detective yarn, part thriller, it tells the story of a career detective's obsession with a years old murder investigation.
