Unrated Trailer Time: Hobo with a Shotgun

Another reason I need to move to Canada. A few years ago, Robert Rodriguez held a contest for people to send in the best "fake" trailers of their own creation, with the winner being added to the spoof trailers in 2007's Grindhouse double-feature. The winner turned out to be Hobo with a Shotgun, created by Canadian filmmaker Jason Eisener and a few of his buddies. It depicted a hobo wielding a 20-gauge shotgun who turns into a Punisher-style vigilante.

The trailer could be seen in only a few select showings of Grindhouse here in the US, but was more widely seen in Canada. Now similar to the way Machete sprang forth from joke trailer to feature film, Hobo with a Shotgun is now a full feature film with Rutger Hauer(Blade Runner) in the prime role.

As for the trailer itself, it's not at all the "grindhouse" comedy/action flick that Machete is. I think they're actually playing this one right down the middle. It's a little over the top(the sewer scene), but it sets up a forboding and moody tone at the beginning quite well. I'm digging this already.

Hobo with a Shotgun has a tentative release set for sometime in Spring 2011. Check out the trailer and as always let us know what you think!
