Punch Drunk DVDs

How to Train Your Dragon
Dreamworks has been lagging behind Pixar in the great animation race for nearly a decade, but with How To Train Your Dragon they finally produced an eternally appealing film that matches their rivals. Jay Baruchel voices Hiccup, a runt of a Viking who goes against his clan when he befriends Toothless, a "fearsome" dragon. Not only do you get this great story if you buy the DVD, but also a special brand new adventure featuring Hiccup and the gang. Sweet deal.

Jonah Hex
Proof that you can't just cram any ol' comic book hero onto the big screen and expect it to be all roses and sunshine. Josh Brolin has had a hell of a run of great movies the last few years, but consider Jonah Hex the stinky bellybutton of his recent filmography. He stars as Hex, a scarred bounty hunter looking for revenge against the man who killed his family. Megan Fox is there too, stretching her acting limits as Hex's favorite prostitute.

Arn: The Knight Templar
I'd be much more interested if this were the story of the greatest wrestler ever and former member of The Four Horsemen, Arn Anderson. But alas it's not. :-(

Lost Boys: The Thirst
I tried to watch Lost Boys: The Tribe on DVD and couldn't make it through 15 minutes. The chances of me catching this latest Corey Feldman starring installment are zero. For Lost Boys diehards only.

I Am Love
Tilda Swinton puts on her usual amazing performance in this beautiful, lush, and mouth watering film about a woman stuck in a boring life of familial business and corporate transactions. Her life is opened up to a wealth of possibilities when a new man enters her life. One of the most beautiful, succulent films you'll see all year. Think the opening segment of Julia Roberts' Eat Pray Love.....minus all the fun.

Leaves of Grass
Ed Norton pulls double duty as a pair of marijuana growing identical twins who get in way over their heads. Directed by Tim Blake Nelson, and also featuring Susan Sarandon, Keri Russell, Melanie Lysnkey, and Richard Dreyfuss. Going to the top of my Netflix queue.
