With MGM's financial woes on the path to being sorted out, it was only a matter of time before we started hearing more about the studio's biggest non-Hobbit related franchise, James Bond. The plan, according to The Financial Times, is to have Bond 23 in theaters some time in November 2012. From that point on, new flicks would come out every two years, completely funded by MGM.
Whether or not this plan takes hold will depend on whether MGM can come to an agreement with EON, the studo that controls the production on all James Bond flicks. Sam Mendes, who was originally set to direct Bond 23, pulled out of the film at one point due to the delays. He then dropped out of the race to direct Hunger Games when it became clear that MGM was looking to get Bond back on the fast track. If the plan is to have the film ready by 2012, expect filming to begin some time in the middle of next year.
