No yellow brick road for Robert Zemeckis

Sounds as if Robert Zemeckis wants no part of any Wizard of Oz remakes. At least not the one Warner Brothers was looking to him for. Entertainment Weekly spoke to a rep for the director who said that while he did meet with the studio about the project, he has no plans to take it on at this time. Awww shucks.

The report also goes on to say that the entire project is sortof up in the air at this point, and hardly a done deal. The plan was to basically recreate the 1939 classic using the original script word-for-word.

That's ok because Zemeckis is plenty busy with his Yellow Submarine remake, anyway.
