* I never really paid Ray Wise a second thought until he absolutely blew up the spot as the Devil in the highly underrated and short-lived TV series, Reaper. Now Wise will play a demon of a different sort as he's signed on to play the Secretary of State in Matthew Vaughn's X-men: First Class. I'll bet he's a mutant hater, too. He just looks like a mutant hater.
* I haven't really cared a bit about McG's fast paced romantic comedy/action flick, This Means War. I'm still not that interested, but the fact that Angela Bassett has joined the cast fills me with some hope. She'll join the Tom Hardy/Chris Pine starring flick about two agents who literally go to war over the affections of a single woman. That woman isn't Bassett(although that would be...interesting), it's Reese Witherspoon. I'd lob a grenade or two for her, too.
* I like to think of Jack the Giant Killer as the flick that stopped Bryan Singer from directing X-men: First Class. So I had a certain animosity towards it right from the jump. But with pre-production now underway I am interested in knowing who'll star in his adult-oriented, violent take on the Jack and the Beanstalk legend. A casting shortlist has been revealed of potential stars, and for the title role of "Jack" the following actors are in contention...
Aaron Johnson(Kick-Ass)
Nicholas Hoult(About a Boy)
Aneurin Barnard
Jamie Campbell Bower(Sweeney Todd)
And for the role of the Princess....
Adelaide Kane
Juno Temple(Year One)
Lily Collins(The Blind Side)
