Another documentary about the threat of global warming? Haven't we fulfilled our environmentalist flick quota with An Inconvenient Truth and The 12th Hour already? No? Even fans(or should I say "believers"?) of those two great documentaries will want to take a crack at Cool It, from the very controversial environmental economist, Bjorn Lomborg. Lomborg's 2002 book, The Skeptical Environmentalist, caused a stir with its claim that a lot of the information we've received on global warming has proven to be unfounded. Lomborg's idea is to prioritize other environmental issues that may have more immediate impact. Cool It is actually based on Lomborg's follow-up book, Cool It: The Skeptical Environmentalist's Guide to Global Warming
Exciting, right? I love documentaries so for me this is actually pretty exciting, and I like to hear every angle of every debate, even from people I don't find to be all that credible. I've read some of Lombarg's first book(back when I read actual books and not comics), and think the guy is looking to stir the pot more than anything else. Then again every major issue needs somebody to do just that in order to encourage the free flow of ideas.
Look for Cool It to hit an independent theater near you on November 12th, 2010. Check out the trailer below.
