Another grain of salt rumor, but an interesting one nonetheless. Showbizspy is citing the dreaded "inside source" that says Christopher Nolan is planning on having the Joker return briefly in The Dark Knight Rises. How would he pull this off exactly without using another actor to fill Heath Ledger's considerable shoes? Via selected cut scenes and CGI....
“The idea is to use these fragments of cut scenes and use CGI to have The Joker appear one last time,” reveals a movie insider.
“Chris wants some continuity between movies and for the franchise to pay tribute to Heath and his portrayal of the Joker.
“It would only be a fleeting moment in the movie and would only be included with the full consent of Heath’s family.”
I don't really see the point. Continuity is one thing, but it's not like anybody's going to forget The Joker's presence of influence from the last film. The only thing this would serve to do is distract from the rest of the movie. It'll become all about how "real" Ledger looks, or if Nolan is doing a disservice to Ledger's performance and memory. Call it a hunch but I don't think this happens. We shall see.
*UPDATE*
According to Moviehole, a contact at Warner Brothers states unequiviocally that this ain't happenin'. In fact his exact words were "It's just not real".
Thank goodness.
