Brad Fuller, a producer for Michael Bay's Platinum Dunes imprint took to his Twitter account to fill in the blanks on what exactly is up with the Elm Street and Friday the 13th
"Lots of rumors out there. I want to set the record straight on freddy and Jason. First, let's talk Jason: [Damian] Shannon and [Mark] Swift wrote a great script. We are ready to go, when New Line is ready. But as of yet, they are not ready."
"As for Freddy, as far as I know, there isnt even talk of writing another script. Rated R Horror movies, right now, don't seem to generate interest from the studios. Everyday we want to hear from any studio that they want a horror movie, but it hasn't happened. So right now we are working on a handful of films, including Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and Ouija."
No surprise that there's a bit more momentum for Friday the 13th, considering it far exceeded expectations by grossing over $90M against a meager $19M budget. There were somewhat higher expectations for A Nightmare on Elm Street, which featured Oscar winner Jackie Earle Haley donning claws of Freddy this time around. It was a financial success, earning over $115M overall, but reviews for it were overwhelmingly negative, and buzz for a sequel has been non-existent. Honestly, though, it doesn't sound like we're going to be getting more of either anytime soon if ever.
So what do you think? Freddy vs. Jason 2? I could be down for that. Although I'd prefer Freddy vs. Jason X
