Sure Shots: New Year's Eve; Superman; 'J. Edgar'

* Somehow, Garry Marshall's New Year's Eve is looking to surpass it's predecessor, Valentine's Day, in the number of stars lining up to collect big checks for miniscule roles. Add thee more to the list, as John Bon Jovi, Til Schweiger(Inglourious Basterds), and Seth Meyers(SNL) have joined the cast. One's a rock star(guess who?), the other's married to Jessica Biel, and the other is....who cares? Ugh I hate this movie already. So sue me.

* Chances are you didn't see Gareth Edwards' low budget, highly acclaimed flick Monsters, but if you did then you know the name Scoot McNairy. He was the star, afterall. In an interview with Total Film, McNairy revealed that he just received "an offer that was probably the biggest offer of my life". Speculation is that it could have something to do with Zack Snyder's Superman relaunch. Hmmm...

* Ken Howard is probably busy enough as president of the Screen Actors Guild, but he's still finding time to bulk up that filmography of his. He's just signed on to the increasingly impressive cast of Clint Eastwood's biopic, 'J. Edgar', about the former FBI director. Howard will be joining Leonardo Dicaprio, Armie Hammer, Ed Westwick, Judi Dench, Josh Lucas, and Damon Herriman. He'll be playing future Supreme Court justice Harlan F. Stone.
