With filming on Michael J. Bassett's Silent Hill: Revelation 3D already taking place in Toronto, the expectation was that the story would be a stand-alone effort, mostly taking liberally from the plot of the Silent Hill 3 video game. That would involve Heather Mason(Adelaide Clemens), a girl plagued by terrible nightmares who arrives at the haunted town of Silent Hill along with her troubled father. The only other confirmed cast member was Kit Harrington in an unspecified role.
None of the previous primary cast were expected to return: Radha Mitchell, Deborah Kara Unger, or Sean Bean. A report came out stating that Bean was in talks to join the sequel as a completely different character, that of Heather Mason's father, but has never been confirmed. Now Davis Films has issued a press release stating that all three actors will be returning, afterall.
Just how much of a role all three will play is anyone's guess. The first Silent Hill didn't exactly adhere to the video game storyline, so it's possible that this film will follow that trend. Bassett seems pretty happy with their involvement, leading me to believe their appearances will be more than mere cameo...
Bassett: "It wouldn't be the same without some of the original 'Silent Hill' cast. Sean, Radha and Deborah's return will certainly thrill fans of the franchise and compliment Revelations stars Adelaide and Kit."
Silent Hill: Revelation 3D is currently being shot using the revolutionary Red EPIC camera system. Shooting is set to conclude on May 6th. Check out the brand new image from the film, which gives a glimpse of the returning Mitchell. That elevator looks mighty sketchy!
