Sean Bean in talks to join Silent Hill: Revelation

Cameras just starting rolling yesterday on Silent Hill: Revelation 3D, the sequel to 2006's video game adaptation starring Radha Mitchell.  Michael J. Bassett is directing, with Adelaide Clemens(Mad Max: Fury Road) and Kit Harington set to star.  The plot will largely diverge from that of the first film, making it more of a stand alone effort taking place in the ghostly town of Silent Hill.  So while the story will have very little to do with that of the original film, Bloody Disgusting is reporting that one very important cast member may be returning.

The site notes that Sean Bean(Death Race 2), who played Chris Da Silva in the first film, is in talks to join the sequel. Only he won't be playing the same role as before. This time around he'd be Harry Mason, the troubled father to protagonist Heather Mason(Clemens). With shooting already underway, confirmation or denial of this story should arrive fairly quickly, along with any other news on the film.

My brain goes all wonky when I see the same actors in the same franchise playing different characters. I'm still trying to wrap my brain around all of Jason Lee's appearances in Kevin Smith movies.  But this is Sean Bean, one of the consistently great actors working right now, so I'm sure I'd get over it.  The most perplexing thing to me right now is just how interested I am in seeing a Silent Hill 2.

PLOT
For years, Heather Mason (Clemens) and her father have been on the run, always one step ahead of dangerous forces that she doesn’t fully understand. Now on the eve of her 18th birthday, plagued by terrifying nightmares and the disappearance of her father, Heather discovers she’s not who she thinks she is. The revelation leads her deeper into a demonic world that threatens to trap her in Silent Hill forever.
