The first trailer for Luke Greenfields upcoming rom-com, Something Borrowed, had me screaming at the plight of women in film. That's how awful it was, it turned me into a raving feminist. Now Warner Brothers has released a second cut of the trailer, and...it still stinks. Maybe not as much, but I can tell the kind of movie we're ultimately going to get no matter how hard they try to convince me otherwise. Check it out below, followed by a couple of quick comments. It's late and I need my beauty rest...
The first minute is the stand out. Goodwin is the type of actress who makes you root for her no matter what she's doing. Even here where she basically steals her best friend's(Kate Hudson) fiance, the opening makes you want her to win anyway. Plus it does an effective job of establishing her past with the guy she cheats with. Then the trailer devolves into typical rom-com junk, and poor John Krasinski just looks like that nice and boring guy stuck on the sidelines serving up pearls of wisdom. Yuck. I'll probably pass on this one but my mind could change before it's May 6th release.
