Willem Dafoe in talks to join Odd Thomas

I've never read a single page of Dean Koontz's supernatural mystery novel,Odd Thomas, and yet the Stephen Sommers(The Mummy) film adaptation has had me intrigued since day one.  The story follows a short order cook with the ability to communicate with the dead and sense evil. When he runs across a man swirling with dark forces, he goes off to find out what evil may be afoot.  Anton Yelchin(Alpha Dog) is locked in as the title character, while Addison Timlin(Californication) is his soulmate, Stormy Llewellyn.  Now THR is reporting that Willem Dafoe is in talks to join the film, and my interest continues to skyrocket.

Dafoe would play the local police chief, Wyatt Porter, one of the few people that knows of Thomas' abilities. I'm a big fan of the way Dafoe throws himself into any number of offbeat projects. He can be seen right now in Julian Schnabel's Hind Husseini biopic, Miral.
