The team that killed Osama Bin Laden to be the subject of Kathryn Bigelow's film

Earlier today we all just assumed that Kathryn Bigelow and Mark Boal's Osama Bin Laden pic, rumored to be titled Kill Bin Laden, had suffered a setback, or at least a drastic change in course, when the news broke that the terrorist leader had been killed by US led strike team. But in a fortuitous break, that was the same team that Boal and Bigelow had been tracking for the film. Reports were that the duo were in the pre-production stages of a film about an earlier, failed attempt to capture Bin Laden. Now they have an ending that will no doubt please moviegoers and the filmmakers themselves.

This puts to rest the questions surrounding the film's future, which had some speculating that Bigelow might lose interest in it altogether. At the very least the ending would have to be reworked to include the most recent events. That's still true, but now it can be done in a much more organic way.

Boal had been tracking the team for awhile and had been planning a trip to Afghanistan next week. He's still in the midst of penning the script, which sources close to Boal say will "definitely" include the fight that ended in Bin Laden's death. The tentative plan is to shoot in the summer, with Joel Edgerton(Animal Kingdom) said to be the top contender to star.
