That CSI guy, Rob Corddry, and Adam Brody join Seeking a Friend at the End of the World
If you've been following Steve Carell's career over the last few months, then you might have noticed him stockpiling upcoming flicks in a big way, in preparation for his departure from The Office. One of those movies we'll be seeing in a few short weeks, the fantastic looking Crazy Stupid Love. While he's got a couple of other projects line up, the one I'm most interested in is Seeking a Friend at the End of the World, a romantic comedy set a time when the planet is about to be destroyed. Keira Knightley will be starring alongside him, written and directed by Lorene Scafaria(Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist).
The story sees Carell as "a husband who finds himself alone when his wife rushes off in a panic. His high school sweetheart sends him a letter stating that she wants them to be together when the world ends. Knightley would be his neighbor tagging along on the road trip". I'm going to assume the two hit it off romantically at some point, and will likely run into a bunch of unique characters along the way.
Some of those likely roles have now been filled. William Petersen, who I don't think anybody's seen since he left CSI, has signed on. Joining him are Rob Corddry and Adam Brody, all of whom are in unidentified roles at this point. Corddry was most recently seen in the Ed Helms comedy, Cedar Rapids, while Brody had a cup of coffee in Wes Craven's Scream 4.
I'll be curious to see how well Scafaria mixes the salty and sweet premise. Production could begin as soon as later this month.
