1. The Hangover Part II- $86.5M/$118M
Despite critics trying their best to ward people off, nobody listened and even more moviegoers showed up for the further adventures of the Wolfpack. Todd Phillips' sequel broke the bank, earning the highest opening ever for a live-action comedy. Aided by a blazing $31M Thursday debut, the film zipped past Fast Five
2. Kung Fu Panda 2- $48M/$54M
I thought it was a little strange to have two big blockbusters squaring off so directly because one wouldn't be able to compete. That unfortunate victim this time was Kung Fu Panda 2, the sequel to 2008's smash animated hit. That film opened at $60M on it's way to $215M domestic, but this one has a ways to go to keep pace.
3. Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides
The fourth film in the vaunted Jack Sparrow franchise is by far the smallest ship in the fleet. By comparison, the last two movies were well past $200M at this same point.
4. Bridesmaids
Despite the presence of another R-rated comedy in The Hangover Part II, Bridesmaids didn't skip a beat, posting the smallest drop of the week at 22%. It should only be a matter of days before this unexpected butt kicker passes the $100M mark.
5. Thor- $9.37M/$159M
Actually doing quite respectably, but what happens when X-men: First Class lands next week?
6. Fast Five
7. Midnight in Paris
Still in limited release at only 58 theaters, Woody Allen's latest earned a whopping $33,000 per site and powered through some of the veteran flicks on the list.
8. Jumping the Broom
9. Something Borrowed
10. Rio
