I'm amazed by how little reaction there has been to Francis Ford Coppola's 2009 family rivalry drama, Tetro. Not only was it beautifully shot, but was complex in a lot of the same ways that The Godfather
was. Yet it was basically ignored. Shame. Maybe he'll have better luck with his latest film, which had been titled Twixt Now and Sunrise. Well, it's been shortened to just Twixt now, and Coppola will be bringing it to San Diego Comic-Con.I guess that's one way to get people's attention. Certainly by Coppola's previous description of it, there's a good chance the fanboys might be drawn. First described as a thriller with horror overtones, then fleshed out to be , “one part Gothic romance, one part personal film, and one part the kind of horror film that began my career”. Well now we have a more thorough plot description, and it sounds pretty wild...
A writer with a declining career arrives in a small town as part of his book tour and gets caught up in a murder mystery involving a young girl. That night in a dream, he is approached by a mysterious young ghost named V. He’s unsure of her connection to the murder in the town, but is grateful for the story being handed to him. Ultimately he is led to the truth of the story, surprised to find that the ending has more to do with his own life than he could ever have anticipated.
Sounds like Val Kilmer, Elle Fanning, Bruce Dern, and Ben Chaplin(Birthday Girl
) are in for a wild ride. The score has been put together by electronica musician Dan Deacon, and there's some sort of "interactive" part to it involving live music that will be fleshed out at Comic-Con.>sigh< Another thing I'll be missing at the show this year.
